Please lay out all of the kit items on a table in front of you and have a pen ready.
Fill the collection card with your name, today’s date, and your date of birth.

Hydrate: Drink a glass of water before you do anything else. You can add a pinch of salt or a sugar-free hydration pack to improve hydration.
Wash your hands: Run your hands under warm water.
Warm your hands: If you have a handwarmer, you can start using it at this time.
Get active: Jumping jacks or squats are both great exercises to warm your hands and get your blood flowing, which will make collection easier. Please avoid strenuous workouts for 24 hours before collection.

Choose either the middle or ring finger of your non-dominant hand. Remove any rings.
If you wish to use the Finger Pump follow these instructions.
Wipe the tip of the chosen finger with the alcohol pad in a circular motion.
Windmill arm rotations: rotate the arm swiftly in a windmill motion to dry the finger and force blood into the fingertips.

Twist off the lancet cap (you won’t see the needle).
Pinch your chosen finger with your thumb until the skin is taught. Place your nail flat against the table.
Refer to the red finger area of the third image for lancet placement.
Press the lancet into the finger until you hear a click.

Massage your finger and then gently squeeze the tip to form a droplet. Repeat for every drop.
You may gently touch the formed droplet against the collection square. DO NOT smudge the card with your finger. Finish with one square before moving onto the next. A small pool of blood in the square is a good indicator that it’s complete.
Blood will flow into the rectangular area. If red blood does not pass the first line, our lab will not be able to analyze your sample. Blood may take up to 2 minutes to fully propagate to the right.
Please refer to the image to determine if your collection was done correctly.

You did it! The hard part is over.

Hold the gauze against skin until bleeding stops, then apply bandage to your finger.
Let the collection card dry until there's no visible pooling of blood.

Once the card is dry, put it inside the foil bag with the blood side facing away from the desiccant bag.
Put the foil bag into the bubble mailer and seal it.
Mail your sample. Pease mail your sample within one day of collection.
